Title: Vice President, Cities & Cybersecurity
Michael Valencia is the Vice President of Cities and Cybersecurity for DPP Tech.Michael has over 20 years’ experience in the public sector with the City and County of San Francisco, City El Paso and the State of Texas. He has created and modified policies/procedures in Security supporting areas in networking, telecommunication and specialized systems.
While working for the City & County of San Francisco, he managed several high visibility initiatives such as the redesign and implementation of the city’s public Wi-Fi on Market Street and 32 parks throughout the City.This received the High-density enhancement project award from StateScoop. He also managed the implementation of the San Francisco Policy Department and SF General Hospital VoIP Telephony system. He designed and managed the installation of the City’s’ Internet edge infrastructure along with the installation of an IDS/IPS system.
While working for the City of El Paso, Michael completed several high profile projects. He managed the installation of the first POD data center in El Paso, Texas.Michael was responsible for the redesign and expansion of the City’s’ free WIFI services known as Digital El Paso. He also designed and implemented a Public safety wireless network. He assisted in the standardization of a city-wide network and VoIP system.He designed and implemented the third data center successfully along with managing the redesign of the City’s downtown Fiber relocation project.
Michael assisted with the design of the Public Safety P25 radio network system and the expansion of the data Microwave network. He assisted with the installation of the SCADA system into the Citys’ backbone infrastructure. He managed the design and implementation of the City-wide Network/VoIP System with the implementation of a new city-wide prefix which included 10,000 extensions.
Michael is a co-author of Cisco systems publication on ‘Next-Generation Security’.
